RESUMO

Rapeseed is a significant global source of plant oil. Silique size, particularly silique length (SL), impacts rapeseed yield. SL is a typical quantitative trait controlled by multiple genes. In our previous study, we constructed a DH population of 178 families known as the 158A-SGDH population. In this study, through SL QTL mapping, we identified twenty-six QTL for SL across five replicates in two environments. A QTL meta-analysis revealed eight consensus QTL, including two major QTL: cqSL.A02-1 (11.32-16.44% of PVE for SL), and cqSL.C06-1 (10.90-11.95% of PVE for SL). Based on biparental resequencing data and microcollinearity analysis of target regions in Brassica napus and Arabidopsis, we identified 11 candidate genes at cqSL.A02-1 and 6 candidate genes at cqSL.C06-1, which are potentially associated with silique development. Furthermore, transcriptome analysis of silique valves from both parents on the 14th, 21st, and 28th days after pollination (DAP) combined with gene function annotation revealed three significantly differentially expressed genes at cqSL.A02-1, BnaA02G0058500ZS, BnaA02G0060100ZS, and BnaA02G0060900ZS. Only the gene BnaC06G0283800ZS showed significant differences in parental transcription at cqSL.C06-1. Two tightly linked insertion-deletion markers for the cqSL.A02-1 and cqSL.C06-1 loci were developed. Using these two QTL, we generated four combinations: A02SGDH284C06158A, A02SGDH284C06SGDH284, A02158AC06158A, and A02158AC06SGDH284. Subsequent analysis identified an ideal QTL combination, A02158AC06SGDH284, which exhibited the longest SL of this type, reaching 6.06 ± 0.10 cm, significantly surpassing the other three combinations. The results will provide the basis for the cloning of SL-related genes of rapeseed, along with the development of functional markers of target genes and the breeding of rapeseed varieties. RESUMO

Patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) are at high risk of frailty, leading to reduced quality of life and survival. Diet is associated with frailty in the elderly through regulating inflammation. Thus, we hypothesized that dietary inflammatory potential (as assessed by dietary inflammatory index [DII]) might be associated with frailty in patients with CRC through regulating inflammatory biomarkers. A total of 231 patients with CRC were included in this cross-sectional study. Dietary intake was evaluated by 3-day, 24-hour dietary recalls, and frailty status was assessed in accordance with the Fried frailty criteria. Plasma inflammatory cytokines were determined in 126 blood samples. A total of 67 patients (29.0%) were frail, with significantly higher DII scores than nonfrail patients, accompanied with significantly increased interleukin-6 (IL-6) and decreased interleukin-10 (IL-10) concentrations. Each 1-point increase of DII was related to a 25.0% increased risk of frailty. IL-6 was positively correlated with frailty and DII, whereas IL-10 was negatively correlated. After adjusting for age, sex, body mass index, education level, smoking status, and energy, mediation analysis revealed that the association between DII and frailty was significantly mediated by IL-6 (average causal mediation effect [ACME], 0.052; 95% confidence interval, 0.020-0.087; P = .002) and IL-10 (ACME, 0.025; 95% confidence interval, 0.004-0.063; P = .016). The ρ values for the sensitivity measure at which estimated ACMEs were zero were 0.3 and -0.2 for IL-6 and IL-10, respectively. Therefore, a pro-inflammatory diet was associated with frailty in patients with CRC possibly in part by affecting circulating IL-6 and IL-10 concentrations.

RESUMO

To explore the feasibility of substituting waxy rice with waxy or sweet-waxy corn, eight varieties of waxy and sweet-waxy corns were selected, including three self-cultivated varieties (Feng nuo 168, Feng nuo 211, and Feng nuo 10). Their starches were isolated and used as research objects, and commercially available waxy rice starch (CAWR) and waxy corn starch (CAWC) were used as controls. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, rapid viscosity analyzer, and rotational rheometer were used to analyze their physicochemical and structural characteristics. The morphologies of all corn starch granules were generally oval or round, with significant differences in particle size distributions. All ten starches exhibited a typical A-type crystal structure; however, their relative crystallinity varied from 20.08% to 31.43%. Chain length distribution analysis showed that the A/B ratio of Jing cai tian nuo 18 and Feng nuo 168 was similar to that of CAWR. Peak viscosities of corn starches were higher than that of CAWR, except for Feng nuo 10, while their setback values were lower than that of CAWR. Except for Feng nuo 10, the paste transparency of corn starches was higher than that of CAWR (10.77%), especially for Jing cai tian nuo 18 (up to 24%). In summary, Jing cai tian nuo 18 and Feng nuo 168 are promising candidates to replace CAWR in developing various rice-based products.

RESUMO

Background: Motor imagery therapy (MIT) showed positive effects on upper limbs motor function. However, the mechanism by which MIT improves upper limb motor function is not fully understood. Therefore, our purpose was to investigate the changes in functional connectivity (FC) within and outside the sensorimotor network (SMN) induced by MIT associated with improvement in upper limb motor function in stroke patients. Methods: A total of 26 hemiplegic stroke patients were randomly divided into MIT (n = 13) and control (n = 13) groups. Fugl-Meyer Assessment Upper Extremity Scale (FMA-UL), Modified Barthel Index (MBI) and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) were evaluated in the two groups before treatment and 4 weeks after treatment. The efficacy of MIT on motor function improvement in stroke patients with hemiplegia was evaluated by comparing the FMA-UL and MBI scores before and after treatment in the two groups. Furthermore, the FC within the SMN and between the SMN and the whole brain was measured and compared before and after different treatment methods in stroke patients. The correlation analysis between the improvement of upper limbs motor function and changes in FC within the SMN and between the SMN and the whole brain was examined. Results: The FCs between ipsilesional primary motor cortex (M1.I) and contralateral supplementary motor area (SMA.C), M1.I and ipsilesional SMA (SMA.I), and SMA.C and contralateral dorsolateral premotor cortex (DLPM.C) significantly increased in the control group but decreased in the MIT group; while the FC between SMA.C and contralateral primary somatosensory cortex (S1.C) significantly increased in the control group but showed no significant difference in the MIT group. The FCs between M1.I and the ipsilesional hippocampal gyrus and ipsilesional middle frontal gyrus significantly decreased in the control group but increased in the MIT group; while the FC in the contralateral anterior cingulate cortex significantly increased in the MIT group but there was no significant difference in the control group. The results of the correlation analysis showed that the differences in abnormal intra-FCs within the SMN negatively correlated with the differences in FMA and MBI, and the difference in abnormal inter-FCs of the SMN positively correlated with the differences in FMA and MBI. Conclusions: MIT can improve upper limb motor function and daily activities of stroke patients, and the improvement effect of conventional rehabilitation therapy (CRT) combined with MIT is significantly higher than that of CRT alone. CRT may improve the upper limb motor function of stroke patients with hemiplegia mainly through the functional reorganization between SMN, while MIT may mainly increase the interaction between SMN and other brain networks.

RESUMO

Trichothecene (TCN) contamination in food and feed is a serious challenge due to the negative health and economic impacts. Here, we confirmed that the glutathione S-transferase (GST) Fhb7-GST could broadly catalyze type A, type B and type D TCNs into glutathione epoxide adducts (TCN-13-GSHs). To evaluate the toxicity of TCN-13-GSH adducts, we performed cell proliferation assays in vitro, which demonstrated decreased cytotoxicity of the adducts. Moreover, in vivo assays (repeated-dose treatment in mice) confirmed that TCN-13-GSH adducts were dramatically less toxic than the corresponding TCNs. To establish whether TCN-13-GSH was metabolized back to free toxin during digestion, single-dose metabolic tests were performed in rats; DON-13-GSH was not hydrolyzed in vivo, but rather was quickly metabolized to another low-toxicity compound, DON-13-N-acetylcysteine. These results demonstrate the promise of Fhb7-GST as a candidate of detoxification enzyme potentially applied in TCN-contaminated agricultural samples, minimizing the detrimental effects of the mycotoxin.

RESUMO

The photon spectrum from free-electron laser (FEL) light sources offers valuable information in time-resolved experiments and machine optimization in the spectral and temporal domains. We have developed a compact single-shot photon spectrometer to diagnose soft X-ray spectra. The spectrometer consists of an array of off-axis Fresnel zone plates (FZP) that act as transmission-imaging gratings, a Ce:YAG scintillator, and a microscope objective to image the scintillation target onto a two-dimensional imaging detector. This spectrometer operates in segmented energy ranges which covers tens of electronvolts for each absorption edge associated with several atomic constituents: carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and neon. The spectrometer's performance is demonstrated at a repetition rate of 120 Hz, but our detection scheme can be easily extended to 200 kHz spectral collection by employing a fast complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) line-scan camera to detect the light from the scintillator. This compact photon spectrometer provides an opportunity for monitoring the spectrum downstream of an endstation in a limited space environment with sub-electronvolt energy resolution.

RESUMO

Knowledge of x-ray free electron lasers' (XFELs) pulse characteristics delivered to a sample is crucial for ensuring high-quality x-rays for scientific experiments. XFELs' self-amplified spontaneous emission process causes spatial and spectral variations in x-ray pulses entering a sample, which leads to measurement uncertainties for experiments relying on multiple XFEL pulses. Accurate in-situ measurements of x-ray wavefront and energy spectrum incident upon a sample poses challenges. Here we address this by developing a virtual diagnostics framework using an artificial neural network (ANN) to predict x-ray photon beam properties from electron beam properties. We recorded XFEL electron parameters while adjusting the accelerator's configurations and measured the resulting x-ray wavefront and energy spectrum shot-to-shot. Training the ANN with this data enables effective prediction of single-shot or average x-ray beam output based on XFEL undulator and electron parameters. This demonstrates the potential of utilizing ANNs for virtual diagnostics linking XFEL electron and photon beam properties.

RESUMO

Cholera remains a major public health problem that threatens human health worldwide and its severity is continuing. In this paper, an edge-based model for cholera transmission on random networks is proposed and investigated. The model assumes that two communities share a common water source and includes three transmission routes, namely intra- and inter-community human-to-human transmission as well as water-to-human transmission. Intra-community human-to-human contacts are modeled through a random contact network, while both inter-community and water-to-human transmission are modeled through external nodes that reach each individual in the network to the same extent. The basic reproduction number and the equations of the final epidemic size are obtained. In addition, our study considers the cholera situation in Banadir, which is one of the most severely infected regions in Somalia, during the period (2019-2021). According to the geographical location, two adjacent districts are selected and our model fits well with the real data on the monthly cumulative cholera cases of these two districts during the above-mentioned period. From the perspective of network topology, cutting off high-risk contacts by supervising, isolating, quarantining and closing places with high-degree cholera-infected individuals to reduce degree heterogeneity is an effective measure to control cholera transmission. Our findings might offer some useful insights on cholera control.

RESUMO

Directly imaging structural dynamics involving hydrogen atoms by ultrafast diffraction methods is complicated by their low scattering cross sections. Here we demonstrate that megaelectronvolt ultrafast electron diffraction is sufficiently sensitive to follow hydrogen dynamics in isolated molecules. In a study of the photodissociation of gas phase ammonia, we simultaneously observe signatures of the nuclear and corresponding electronic structure changes resulting from the dissociation dynamics in the time-dependent diffraction. Both assignments are confirmed by ab initio simulations of the photochemical dynamics and the resulting diffraction observable. While the temporal resolution of the experiment is insufficient to resolve the dissociation in time, our results represent an important step towards the observation of proton dynamics in real space and time.

RESUMO

This study investigated the associations between diet and frailty in lung cancer patients and the potential role of the gut microbiota involved. We assessed dietary intake and frailty status in 231 lung cancer patients by 3-day, 24-h dietary recalls and Fried frailty criteria, respectively, and collected 50 fecal samples for next-generation sequencing. A total of 75 (32.5%) patients were frail, which might be related to significantly lower intake of energy, protein, carbohydrate, dietary fiber, niacin, leucine, some minerals, and a poorer dietary quality as indicated by the Chinese Healthy Eating Index (p < 0.05). Among these, carbohydrate (OR = 0.98; 95% CI 0.96-0.99; p = 0.010), calcium (OR = 0.99; 95% CI 0.99-1.00; p = 0.025), and selenium (OR = 1.03; 95% CI 1.00-1.06; p = 0.022) were all significantly associated with frailty. A multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the mean risk of frailty was 0.94 times lower (95% CI 0.90-0.99; p = 0.009) among participants with higher CHEI scores. Additionally, the frail patients demonstrated significantly lower gut microbiota ß diversity (p = 0.001) and higher relative abundance of Actinobacteriota (p = 0.033). Frailty in lung cancer patients might be associated with insufficient nutrients intake and a poor dietary quality through gut microbiota regulation.

RESUMO

KEY MESSAGE: The leaf rust resistance gene Lr19, which is present on the long arm of chromosome 7E1 in Thinopyrum ponticum, was mapped within a 0.3-cM genetic interval, and translocation lines were developed to break its linkage with yellow pigmentation The leaf rust resistance locus Lr19, which was transferred to wheat (Triticum aestivum) from its relative Thinopyrum ponticum in 1966, still confers broad resistance to most known races of the leaf rust pathogen Puccinia triticina (Pt) worldwide. However, this gene has not previously been fine-mapped, and its tight linkage with a gene causing yellow pigmentation has limited its application in bread wheat breeding. In this study, we genetically mapped Lr19 using a bi-parental population from a cross of two wheat-Th. ponticum substitution lines, the Lr19-carrying line 7E1(7D) and the leaf rust-susceptible line 7E2(7D). Genetic analysis of the F2 population and the F2:3 families showed that Lr19 was a single dominant gene. Genetic markers allowed the gene to be mapped within a 0.3-cM interval on the long arm of Th. ponticum chromosome 7E1, flanked by markers XsdauK3734 and XsdauK2839. To reduce the size of the Th. ponticum chromosome segment carrying Lr19, the Chinese Spring Ph1b mutant was employed to promote recombination between the homoeologous chromosomes of the wheat chromosome 7D and the Th. ponticum chromosome 7E1. Two translocation lines with short Th. ponticum chromosome fragments carrying Lr19 were identified using the genetic markers closely linked to Lr19. Both translocation lines were resistant to 16 Pt races collected throughout China. Importantly, the linkage between Lr19 and yellow pigment content was broken in one of the lines. Thus, the Lr19 linked markers and translocation lines developed in this study are valuable resources in marker-assisted selection as part of common wheat breeding programs.

RESUMO

Rice drought resistance is a complicated quantitative feature involving a range of biological and agronomic variables, but little is known about the underlying genetics and regulatory mechanisms that regulate drought tolerance. This study used 120 recombinant inbred lines (RILs), derived from a cross between drought tolerant Lvhan 1 and susceptible Aixian 1. The RILs were subjected to drought stress at the first ear stage, and phenotypic data of 16 agronomic and physiological traits under varying conditions were investigated. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) on the drought resistance index of traits was carried out. A total of 9 quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with drought-related traits were identified on chromosomes 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, which includes QTLs for plant height (PH) qPH10.1, effective panicles number (EPN) qEPN6.1, panicle length (PL) qPL9.1, thousand-grain weight (TGW) qTGW2.1, qTGW6.1, qTGW8.1, leaf length (LL) qLL7.1, leaf width (LW) qLW7.1, and leaf area (LA) qLA7.1. The fraction of phenotypic variation explained by individual QTL varied from 10.6% to 13.9%. Except for days to flowering (DTF), the mean values of all traits under normal water management conditions were considerably higher than those under drought conditions. Except for the DTF, the drought resistance index of all rice traits was less than 1, indicating that drought treatment reduced the EPN, FGPP, SSR, PH, and LA, which affected the growth and development of rice. The drought resistance index of DTF was 1.02, indicating that drought prolonged the heading time of rice and diminish the yield parameters. Along with identifying QTLs, the results also predicted ten candidate genes, which are directly or indirectly involved in various metabolic functioning related to drought stress. The identification of these genomic sites or QTLs that effectively respond to water scarcity will aid in the quest of understanding the drought tolerance mechanisms. This study will facilitate the marker-assisted rice breeding and handy in the breeding of drought-tolerant rice varieties.

RESUMO

Various proteins bind to chromatin to regulate DNA and its associated processes such as replication, transcription, and damage repair. The identification and characterization of these chromatin-associating proteins remain a challenge, as their interactions with chromatin often occur within the context of the local nucleosome or chromatin structure, which makes conventional peptide-based strategies unsuitable. Here, we developed a simple and robust protein labeling chemistry to prepare synthetic multifunctional nucleosomes that carry a photoreactive group, a biorthogonal handle, and a disulfide moiety to examine chromatin-protein interactions in a nucleosomal context. Using the prepared protein- and nucleosome-based photoaffinity probes, we examined a number of protein-protein and protein-nucleosome interactions. In particular, we (i) mapped the binding sites for the HMGN2-nucleosome interaction, (ii) provided the evidence for transition between the active and poised states of DOT1L in recognizing H3K79 within the nucleosome, and (iii) identified OARD1 and LAP2α as nucleosome acidic patch-associating proteins. This study provides powerful and versatile chemical tools for interrogating chromatin-associating proteins.

RESUMO

Bolbitis laxireticulata is a potential ornamental plant, which is restricted to eastern Asia. Here, we sequenced the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of B. laxireticulata and constructed a phylogenetic cp tree of Dryopteridaceae to study their relationships. The cp genome of B. laxireticulata is 153,093 bp in length, being made up of large single-copy (LSC, 83,169 bp), small single-copy (SSC, 21,538 bp), and a pair of region inverted repeats (IRs, 24,193 bp). It has 124 genes including 83 protein-coding genes, 33 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. With the maximum-likelihood tree indicating, B. laxireticulata is more closely related to B. subcordata.

RESUMO

Bolbitis is a pantropical fern genus of Dryopteridaceae with ca. 80 species mainly in tropical Asia. Earlier studies confirmed the monophyly of Bolbitis when Mickelia is excluded and identified three major clades in Bolbitis. However, earlier studies are based on relatively small sampling and the majority of Asian species are not sampled. In this study, DNA sequences of three plastid markers of 169 accessions representing ca. 68 (85 % of total) species of Bolbitis in nine out of the 10 series recognized by Hennipman (1977), and 54 accessions representing the five remaining bolbitidoid genera are used to infer a global phylogeny with a focus on Asian species. The major results include: (1) Bolbitis is strongly supported as monophyletic; (2) species of Bolbitis are resolved into four major clades and their relationships are: the Malagasy/Mascarene clade is sister to the rest, followed by the African clade which is sister to the American clade + the Asian clade; (3) six well-supported subclades are identified in the most speciose Asian clade; (4) the free-veined Egenolfia is embedded in Bolbitis and is paraphyletic in relation to species with anastomosing venation; (5) three series sensu Hennipman (1977), B. ser. Alienae, B. ser. Egenolfianae, and B. ser. Heteroclitae, are paraphyletic or polyphyletic; (6) evolution of six morphological characters is analyzed and free venation is found to have evolved from anastomosing venation and reversed to free venation in Bolbitis; and (7) biogeographical implications are drawn and it is shown that a single recent dispersal from Asia resulted in continental disjunction of closely related ferns of Bolbitis between Africa and America.

RESUMO

Research on the flowering habit of rapeseed is important for the selection of varieties adapted to specific ecological environments. Here, quantitative trait loci (QTL) for the days-to-flowering trait were identified using a doubled haploid population of 178 lines derived from a cross between the winter type SGDH284 and the semi-winter type 158A. A linkage map encompassing 3268.01 cM was constructed using 2777 bin markers obtained from next-generation sequencing. The preliminary mapping results revealed 56 QTLs for the days to flowering in the six replicates in the three environments. Twelve consensus QTLs were identified by a QTL meta-analysis, two of which (cqDTF-C02 and cqDTF-C06) were designated as major QTLs. Based on the micro-collinearity of the target regions between B. napus and Arabidopsis, four genes possibly related to flowering time were identified in the cqDTF-C02 interval, and only one gene possibly related to flowering time was identified in the cqDTF-C06 interval. A tightly linked insertion-deletion marker for the cqFT-C02 locus was developed. These findings will aid the breeding of early maturing B. napus varieties.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Phase I clinical trials play an important role in the follow-up clinical trials and even the drug registration and marketing. However, the screening success ratio in phase I clinical trials is low, and the screening process of the trials consumes a significant amount of human and material resources, but the results are unsatisfactory. At present, there is no large sample data analysis for screening failure in phase I clinical trials. It is therefore urgent to find the reasons for screening failure in phase I clinical trials. METHODS: A total of 1,058 healthy volunteers who failed the screening in 11 phase I clinical trials were retrospectively collected from October 2018 to June 2021 in Cangzhou Central Hospital. Data on all participants who failed screening for the study were analyzed (descriptive analysis) and reasons for their non-randomization were classified, as well as the differences of main screening failures between four years. RESULTS: A total of 1,466 healthy volunteers were enrolled in the 11 trials, and among them 1,058 subjects failed the screening. The total screening success ratio of our study was only 27.8%, the highest being 38.5% and the lowest being 18.2%. The top 3 reasons for non-randomization were abnormalities in blood biochemistry tests (23.3%), vital sign examination (19.3%), and electrocardiogram (ECG) (16.6%). Abnormal blood biochemistry was the main reason between 2019 and 2021, except for 2018 in which it was the second reason. CONCLUSIONS: Screening failure is a burdensome issue which various clinical trial sites must contend with. Investigators can still take some effective measures by strengthening the in-depth understanding of informed consent, paying attention to the quality of test samples, a correcting definition of no clinical significance (NCS). Also, low-cost and non-invasive examinations can be arranged first to better protect the volunteers and reduce the screening costs of clinical trials. To our delight, we find people's attention to the annual physical examination may help to screen healthy volunteers. Overall, this study shows that it is crucial and professional to develop a screening plan to minimize the resultant impact on timelines and budgets of phase I clinical trials enrolling healthy volunteers.

RESUMO

The newly constructed time-resolved atomic, molecular and optical science instrument (TMO) is configured to take full advantage of both linear accelerators at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, the copper accelerator operating at a repetition rate of 120 Hz providing high per-pulse energy as well as the superconducting accelerator operating at a repetition rate of about 1 MHz providing high average intensity. Both accelerators power a soft X-ray free-electron laser with the new variable-gap undulator section. With this flexible light source, TMO supports many experimental techniques not previously available at LCLS and will have two X-ray beam focus spots in line. Thereby, TMO supports atomic, molecular and optical, strong-field and nonlinear science and will also host a designated new dynamic reaction microscope with a sub-micrometer X-ray focus spot. The flexible instrument design is optimized for studying ultrafast electronic and molecular phenomena and can take full advantage of the sub-femtosecond soft X-ray pulse generation program.

RESUMO

Iron (Fe) deficiency is a nutritional stress in plants that commonly occurs in alkaline and calcareous soils. Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MPKs), the terminal player of MAPK cascade, are involved in distinct physiological processes. Once plants suffer from Fe deficiency stress, the mechanism of MPK function remains unclear owing to limited study on the MPK networks including substrate proteins and downstream pathways. Here, the MAP kinase MPK4-1 was induced in roots of Fe efficient apple rootstock Malus xiaojinensis but not in Fe inefficient rootstock Malus baccata under Fe deficiency conditions. Overexpression of MxMPK4-1 in apple calli and apple roots enhanced the responses to Fe deficiency. We found that MxMPK4-1 interacted with NADPH oxidases (NOX)-respiratory burst oxidase homologs MxRBOHD1 and MxRBOHD2, which positively regulated responses to Fe deficiency. Moreover, MxMPK4-1 phosphorylated the C terminus of MxRBOHD2 at Ser797 and Ser906 and positively and negatively regulated NOX activity through these phospho-sites, respectively. When compared with apple calli that overexpressed MxRBOHD2, the coexpression of MxMPK4-1 and MxRBOHD2 prominently enhanced the Fe deficiency responses. We also demonstrated that hydrogen peroxide derived from MxMPK4-1-MxRBOHD2 regulated the MxMPK6-2-MxbHLH104 pathway, illuminating a systematic network that involves different MPK proteins in M. xiaojinensis under Fe deficiency stress.

RESUMO

Even frequently used in wheat breeding, we still have an insufficient understanding of the biology of the products via distant hybridization. In this study, a transcriptomic analysis was performed for six Triticum aestivum-Thinopyrum elongatum substitution lines in comparison with the host plants. All the six disomic substitution lines showed much stronger "transcriptomic-shock" occurred on alien genomes with 57.43-69.22% genes changed expression level but less on the recipient genome (2.19-8.97%). Genome-wide suppression of alien genes along chromosomes was observed with a high proportion of downregulated genes (39.69-48.21%). Oppositely, the wheat recipient showed genome-wide compensation with more upregulated genes, occurring on all chromosomes but not limited to the homeologous groups. Moreover, strong co-upregulation of the orthologs between wheat and Thinopyrum sub-genomes was enriched in photosynthesis with predicted chloroplastic localization, which indicates that the compensation happened not only on wheat host genomes but also on alien genomes.
